Nourishing, healthy fats: Pili nuts are an excellent source of monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFAs) and coconut is rich in medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs). These good plant fats have been shown to provide satisfying satiety, as well as cardiovascular, metabolic, and cognitive benefits.
We use a densely nourishing blend of real food ingredients, including organic sprouted Pili nuts and organic coconut, to make our yogurt. These are naturally rich in fat mix of monounsaturated and saturated fats.
Although saturated fat gets a bad rap, nutrition research continues to debunk the harmful effects of saturated fats from plants. Prior studies lumped all sources of saturated fats — from lard, to pastries, to plants—together to evaluate its role in the body. But when analyses look at only saturated fats from plant, they do not show the same negative effects on heart and overall health, like animal-based saturated fats do.
The type of saturated primarily fat found in Lavva is called Medium Chain Triglycerides, or MCTs for short. MCTs are a type of saturated fat that are are easily digested. They are believed to support a healthy metabolism since the body burns these as energy, instead storing them as fat. MCTs are also thought to support a healthy gut and combat harmful bacteria and viruses.
